The summer is drawing to an end, the holidays are behind us and, as we get back into the swing of things at work, our holiday memories are gradually starting to fade. Anybody who wants to revive them can use the latest wallpaper collections to bring the flair of a French country house, British understatement or Italian grandeur to his own four walls. The Deutsches Tapeten-Institut (German Wallpaper Institute) shows how to prolong the holiday feeling.
Brit Chic for the wall
The classic Glenurquhart motif is intended to embody British elegance and timeless style. In red and white and combined with checks, the pattern has a cheerful effect and brings a little tongue-in-cheek upper-class feeling to the living room. Natural fabrics such as cotton, linen or wool for the sofa and cushions complement he traditional look. Randomly arranged picture frames provide enough space for memories and favourite photos and liven up the atmosphere in the room.
The charm of a French country house
Walls in shades of aqua and with wave-like motifs evoke the ocean. Combined with rustic wood in light colours and white furniture, they bring the flair of a French country house to the room. Wooden furniture in shabby-chic style gives the atmosphere a particularly authentic look. A tip for the decorations: colourful meadow flowers reinforce the summer feeling.
The splendour of an Italian palace
Wallpapers with gold ornamentation are aristocratic per se. Set against a royal-blue background, the motif looks even princelier and makes the occupants feel as if they are in a Venetian palace. This wall design is particularly suitable for big rooms, as splendour needs plenty of space to unfold its full effect. Plain but textured wallpapers complement the flamboyant eye-catcher and create a sense of balance.
Scandinavian freshness
Clear-cut stripes and a playful floral motif complement one another ideally and add variety. In fresh colours like May green and creamy white, these wallpapers convey a Scandinavian feel. Carpets, cushions and accessories in earthy shades are the perfect complement and provide soothing counterparts. And by the way: stripy wallpapers look good regardless of whether the pattern is vertical or horizontal.
Everyone who wants to be informed about wallpapers, should join the imm cologne at the Cologne trade fair. In Pure Village at hall 3.1 the Deutsches Tapeten-Institute will show the collections of various companies. The imm cologne will take place from 14th to 20th January 2013.
