Stiltreu designer Christian Dorn presents a collection under his own name in Pure Village

At Pure Village, Christian Dorn, owner of design studio Stiltreu, will be presenting his new seating furniture in a collection that bears his own name. According to Dorn, the products reflect the special importance he attaches to a mixture of clear design vocabulary and a love of detail.

The furniture he is presenting at the imm cologne is clear and authentic rather than complicated or exotic. With material combinations of metal and wool, fabric or leather coverings, Dorn wants to create a symbiosis between the surface of the seat and the frame. To this end, he sometimes makes the cushion look as if it is hovering or uses the metal tubing to create a frame around the piece. At other times Dorn, who trained as a fashion designer, plays with a combination of voluminous cushions and filigree surrounds.

The installation focuses on a straightforward interpretation of armchairs and two- or 3-seater sofas. Cosiness and comfort are meant to be uppermost in the designs – the soft geometry with its flowing forms is not intended to be overly dominant. Sculptural occasional tables made of Carrara marble from Italy add the finishing touches to the collection.

The collection consists of classic stand-alone pieces with exhibit character. Thanks to a choice of more than 100 colours and several fabric qualities, the seating furniture can easily be integrated into the existing interior ambience.
