Arré arrives for the second time at imm cologne after presenting mediodesign form Barcelona last year at the D3 professionals section. This time, Arré comes to Cologne with an extended collection, including the work of three design studios: Kellie Smits from the Netherlands, BlueChains studio from Miami and Mediodesign from Barcelona. Arré is presenting three new products at the imm cologne, the Insekt desk, Capital Chair and the L-shelf.
The L-shelf is a book shelf system based in modules that fit together in an intuitive way. Like fish scales, the modules are superimposed one after the other to generate a useful surface slightly inclined to prevent books from falling. This system allows for increased storage capacity by adding new modules. It allows an easy assembly without using screws or fasteners.
Finally in production, the shelf is being commercially launched during the imm cologne 2012. Arré has optimized the production of L-shelf and is bringing the product to the market in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark through its network of retailers. The modular shelf is being offered in Standard (plywood) and MDF version for the retail market and a bespoke premium version manufactured by the designer Juan Pablo Quintero in Barcelona.
Arré is also launching a programme of practical furniture designed by Azul Cadenas at his studio BlueChains in Miami, U.S. As a highlight, we are presenting Capital Chair, a design full of witty, simplicity and color. The furniture of BlueChains want to incorporate the key elements of contemporary life into designs that first and foremost are versatile and functional, but also elegant and playful.
Also shown in Pure Village: Insekt desk, a creation of Kellie Smits, designer and entrepreneur in Rotterdam, Netherlands, whom holds a design degree from the Design Academy Eindhoven. Made from plywood and colorful variations of HPL Laminates, the desk is available in three different sizes, including a junior/kid version, a standard model and a large high work desk. The playful composition and the functional possibilities of the different compartments makes the Insekt desk a great working desk.
